Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate working days?

Count the weekdays (Monday to Friday) between the two dates, then take away any bank holidays that fall on those weekdays. This calculator does it for you and includes both the start and end dates.

What is 7 working days?

Seven working days is usually nine calendar days if it runs over one weekend, or more if a bank holiday is included. For example, 7 working days from a Monday with no bank holidays lands on the Wednesday of the following week.

Do working days include the start date?

When counting days between two dates, this calculator includes both dates. When adding working days, the start date isn't counted: 1 working day from Monday is Tuesday. This matches how most deadlines and notice periods are worked out, but check your contract or terms.

How many working days are in a 30 day month?

Usually 20, 21 or 22, depending on which day the month starts and whether it includes a bank holiday. See working days by month.

If I work 37.5 hours a week, how many hours do I work in a month?

On average about 162.5 hours: 37.5 hours × 52 weeks ÷ 12 months. The exact figure for a particular month depends on how many working days it has.
